Bio of Pere Jomanas Eustache ("Fr. Joe")
Jomanas Eustache was born in the Jacmel area and raised in Port-Au-Prince, Haiti in St. Joseph's Parish.
He was ordained for the diocese of Jeremie as a member of the secular institute - “Voluntas Dei” or (the Will of God Institute).
Father Jomanas has degrees in Canon Law, Civil law and communications. He is a professor of Law and founder and director of the law school in Jeremie. He served as Chancellor of the Diocese of Jeremie, Haiti from 2000 to 2009 as well as the Pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in the community of Numero Deux, Haiti during the same time period. Father currently serves as the director of the Law School in Jeremie.
A relationship between St. Bridget Parish in Schriever and Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Haiti was developed in the Jubilee year of 2000 after several St. Bridget Church parishioners from Schriever, Louisiana visited the area, met and worked with Fr. Joe. That initial relationship matured into the formation of Haiti Mission, Inc., a 501c3 NGO which has been instrumental in promoting economic development in and around Jeremie, Haiti by drilling water wells, building schools and homes and starting other humanitarian and agronomy projects.
