Zambia
Drilling water wells in Zambia began in 2023 when Deacon Lloyd was approached by Rachael Paulson, founder and director of HOW Global (Hands on the World Global) regarding her plan to drill a water well for a school and community in Zambia. HOW Global and HMI had previously collaborated on a couple of water projects in Haiti. She was aware that one of the major funding organizations for water wells in Haiti (One Family International) was interested in drilling wells in African countries also. Although HMI could not coordinate such initiatives, we were able to serve as a mediator to transfer funds and communicate between the two entities because of our experiences in Haiti. With those details in place, HMI went forward with the initial project. Thanks be to God, things went well and the first water project in the Livingstone region of Zambia was successfully completed. By early 2026, three wells had been completed in Zambian communities. Although the primary mission of HMI is to work with the Haitian community in and around Jeremie Haiti, we are happy that the expertise we have gained there has helped us help other areas of the world as well.
