Completed Bec's Bakery
This bakery is the realization of the HMI dream to feed the school children attending the St. Bridget schools in Numero Deux and Ravine Sable more regularly and at a reduced cost. This initiative has seen that dream come true. Not only daily bread but pastries and treats for the kids and families are being baked. This has been a tremendous economic boon to the area as well as a blessing for all the school children. We are constantly struggling to develop a regular funding base for the flour and other supplies that it takes to have a bakery. The lower costs and greater efficiency with Bec’s bakery being operational has allowed us the feed the children a hot meal every day they come to school. Our little saint, Rebecca Claire Fakier, has truly done it again.
Challenge and a Blessing for the children
Since 2012 we have received a wonderful blessing that challenges us to do a little more. A donor has offered a dollar for dollar match to any donations we receive for feeding the children up to $15,000 a year and has continued for five years or $75000 through the 2017 school year. Even though Bec's bakery is keeping the cost of feeding the children down, it still costs $3000 a month to be sure all of our school kids get at least one meal daily. We are currently praying for a donor and/or another foundation to help us with this match. Do what you can. Your faithfulness and financial support are vital to the work we are doing. We know Almighty God will help us help the children.
